Explore Your Options for Windows 7 Hard DrivesWhat are considerations when buying a Windows 7 hard drive?
There are several points that should be considered when purchasing a Windows 7 hard drive for your computer system. These factors include the following:
There are certain system requirements needed to run Windows 7 on your computer system. One of these requirements is the amount of space available on the hard drive. To run Windows 7, the hard drive will need to be able to hold at least 16GB of data for a 32-bit operating system and 20GB of data for a 64-bit system.
When should you consider an external Windows 7 hard drive?
When you want to create adequate storage for your computing needs, you will need a hard drive that works for you. While internal hard drives give you the confidence of knowing the storage capabilities are stationary for your computing need, there are times when an external hard drive may work better for you. These situations include the following:

Method 2: I would suggest you to update chipset drivers
Method 3: If it is a recent issue, then you may also try a System restore
Note: When you perform System Restore to restore the computer to previous state, programs and updates you installed are removed.

I solved my problem by manually assigning a letter to the drive. See the post from 26 Feb 2011 here:
Cheers!

I have a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex external hard drive.
The issue I had was that some mornings I would get to work and plug my external USB drive in and would not see it in Explorer mapped to a drive letter.
I went to 'Control Panel'->'Devices and Printers' and noticed my USB drive was there.
64 Bit Drivers Windows 10
Then when I right-clicked on my USB drive and clicked 'Browse Files', strangely it showd a fileshare for a network folder that in Explorer had an 'X' by it (this was drive letter 'F' and my USB drive usually maps to letter 'G').
The reason it had the 'X' by the network share was apparently because it had not been accessed within a certain amount of time, and I suspect our network administrator has it set this way.
I corrected the issue by: 1) ejecting my USB drive and unplugging it, 2) going to Explorer and clicking on the drive letter with the 'X' on it (drive F), and then 3) plugging my USB external drive back in.
It then prompted as usual and all was well.
Hope this helps someone!
